Description
Hormonal contraceptives are one of the most effective methods of preventing unintended pregnancy. While the US has experienced a decline in pregnancy rates over the last few decades, it is still estimated that 45% of all pregnancies are unintended. Pharmacists can significantly address this public health need when they can provide and expand access to contraception in their local communities.
On February 1st, 2022, North Carolina joined 19 other states allowing pharmacists authority in providing hormonal contraception. Under SL 2021-110, immunizing pharmacists in North Carolina now have the authority to dispense, deliver, or administer oral and transdermal self-administered combined hormonal and progestin-only contraceptives.
The NCBOP rule requires immunizing pharmacists complete NCAP's advanced training in hormonal contraception to exercise this authority.
In collaboration with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, NCAP is pleased to bring you an NCCE accredited training experience designed to meet both statutory and NC Board of Pharmacy rules for pharmacists in providing hormonal contraceptives.
