PEP Toolkit

Welcome to the PEP Toolkit! This toolkit is designed to enhance NCAP's 2022 PEP Learning Modules and assist pharmacists in developing services that meet both statutory and NCBOP rules to legally administer post-exposure prophylaxis for HIV.

Description

As of February 1, 2022, immunizing pharmacists in North Carolina now have the authority to dispense post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) medications for the prevention of HIV to patients pursuant to standing order. This new authority marks a long-awaited win for our profession and addresses a clear public health need that will undoubtedly provide great value to our patients. While there is no requirement for advanced training per the NCBOP, this training will help prepare pharmacists for this practice-advancing opportunity.

This toolkit will aid pharmacists in developing services that meet both statutory and NCBOP rules to begin practicing under this new authority, while also offering an organized database of resources to support their knowledge and enhance patient care.
